Minutes: Meeting 2

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

So today was our second meeting of the semester and our first in Erdman. Remember general members are welcome at our Sunday meetings at 5:30pm.

1. Mural Club

-Mural Club is a bit in transition at the moment so Art Club has agreed to work closely with it for now

-We welcome Lee Wacker as Mural Club Head

-We’ve been approached to do a mural for Lusty Cup so we discussed budget and procedure. Stay tuned for more information about that project!

2. SGA– We chose the lucky souls who are to go to the meeting tonight.

3. Drumming Club

-Unfortunately, the art studio is not really the place to have rehearsals or music practice.

Our storage options are not suited for instrument storage.

4. Classes

-Since we finish interviewing this week, next week’s meeting will be the choosing of classes/artists to hire.

-We discussed materials fees, how many classes, etc…

5. Student Run Workshops

Yes, they will be continuing to be run by anyone who has any sort of skill. Most of our procedures from last year will continue. (see our page at the upper right of this blog.)

-Best if they coincide with Community Art Night.

6. Arts Coalition– We are part of it…which is good.

7. Constitution– We are resubmitting a revised Constitution to SGA to make sure it’s up to date.

8. Norristown

-Yay for the volunteers who went to Family Paint Jam!

-Our co-president Ariel will be teaching a Spray Paint Stenciling Workshop on Wednesday October 2nd, 2009 in Norristown!

-There will be a fundraising event for Norristown Arts. Another chance to get your hands on art prints!

Wednesday September 16th, 2009 there will be an advocacy group meeting run by Adrienne

9. Events

-We revised policies to definitely include that no regular meetings can be held in the studio.

-Apparently, there’s already demand for the space…

Minutes

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

The Exec Board had a fantastically long but productive meeting in which we seriously discussed and drafted policies. Here are the abbreviated minutes.

1. Budget:  we need to ask for money in order to keep doing artsy things! Thank you Louisa for working on the budget.

2. Interviews: we start interviewing teachers on Thursday, Sept. 3rd so we set up a procedure and worked out who’s interviewing who. Thank you Adrienne for taking on this tremendous task.

3. Weekly Exec board meetings: members at large are welcome to join us, Sundays at 5:30pm in Erdman for dinner meetings

4. New membership policies!

-Voting members should have attended more than one Art

Club meeting

-Attendance will be on the Honor Code

-Community Art Night will double as an General Art Club

Meeting on the last Wednesday of every month

5. Set up of policies for events in Arnecliffe

-clubs will need to clear events with the Art Club Exec Board

-we have created guidelines and policies that will need to be

agreed to and signed; they deal with our duties and

clarifying the duties of space “renters”

-policies include a non-smoking and alcohol-free policy

6. Access code

-access codes will only be given out in person or by a personal email

– easiest way to get the code is to come out to community art night!

7.  Set the agenda for future meetings

Thanks! and Open Mic

Friday, March 27th, 2009

Thanks to everyone who came to the Art Club Studio Opening! We hope you enjoyed yourselves!

Latest Exec Board Meeting Minutes

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

1. Budget Report from Marybeth
We will be reallocating money from restoring the letter press to food for an open mic event with kaleidoscope.

2.Review of materials purchased
We have bought paper, paint, brushes, silkscreen, paper making supplies, lino ink and blade holders, bookmaking materials

3.Cool new amenities
In Arnecliffe we have a living room equipt with a hotpot, tea and mugs.

4.Stuff we need to find or purchase—We need volunteers to help us pick up these things
Chairs, little table, more tea (we will possibly scavenge this), plastic spoons, empty plastic or glass containers.
The furniture is much cheaper if you can get to IKEA and pick them up instead of buying online. So we are looking for people that would be willing to drive one of us to the store to buy furniture.

5.Still On-going events
Community Art Night (8-10 Thursdays) All are welcome
Workshops — if you have anything art related you would want to teach, please consider teaching a workshop.

6.Art Club events going on
Open Mic with Kaleidoscope, March 19th
Studio Opening
Art Outreach

7.Art Club  Mission
What should we be doing?
Are we doing it?

8. Faculty and Staff Access?
We decided that faculty and staff should have access to the studio and it should be free for them, like it is for students.

9.Office/major’s room
We talked about how we wanted to divide this area between stained glass club and the art majors of Bryn Mawr who want studio space.
Further talks with stained glass club are still needed.

10.Other ideas?
Do we want to take a trip to the PIA? – Anna is organizing a trip
Or to other art events in Philly?
Do we want to try and bring another area artist to campus for a one-day workshop?

11.GIFT FUND!
Donate! We have $14, which is not enough to buy a gift for anyone. There are e-mails about this.
