Summer Access!

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Will you be on campus for the summer? A little underwhelmed by the choices of entertainment on an empty campus?
The Arnecliffe Art Studio will be available this summer with a slightly reduced supply stock.

The studio is available for all members of the Bryn Mawr community, but please note that while you are free to use all communal materials in the studio, materials are not to be removed.

If you have any questions, please contact Sarah Elichko (selichko[at]gmail) or Adrienne Webb (awebb01[at]bmc) who will be looking after the studio for the summer.

Palestinian Embroidery (Tatreez)

An Intergenerational Embroidery Workshop
by Nehad Khader and her mom Alia Sheikh-Yousef

when: Monday May 4th, 7pm
where: Dorothy Vernon Room

What does Tatreez look like? Take a peek! http://www.tatreez-embroidery.com/

Nehad won an award to research and exhibit Palestinian women’s tatreez. We are very lucky to have her mom join for a workshop on Monday! Growing up in the Yarmouk Palestinian Refugee Camp in Damascus, she used to collect and exhibit women’s tatreez, and eventually asked them to teach her. Since her 20’s Alia Sheikh-Yousef has been making tatreez. Among her pieces she’s made a dress, several shawls, multiple pillows, wall hangings, and tabletop covers. SHE IS GOING TO BRING SOME OF HER WORK TO SHOW US!

At the end of the workshop, we will give you materials to finish the piece you started. We are also going to have yummy snacks 🙂

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!
ART CLUB and SJP!
